Chestatee well represented at Turkey Trot 2025
GAINESVILLE, GA - After a week of warm weather, mother nature decided to drop Thanksgiving morning into the 30s this morning with windchills into the upper 20s. But that was no match for about 1500 runners and spectators as we gathered down by Riverside Preparatory Academy for the 16th Annual Turkey Trot 5K/10K/Half Marathon. This year's Turkey Trot saw some familiar faces from Chestatee, some XC runners, a soccer player, and even a Chorus/Drama member! We very well could have missed a few others, but wanted to acknowledge the students that we saw. We also saw some other XC runners from North Hall, Flowery Branch, Gainesville, and even North Oconee!
From our XC team, we had Jonathan Smith, Jefferson Sibrian, Kylor Stewart, Zachary Smith, and Embry Stewart from the Middle School XC team. Emma Dobson served as the "team manager" as she was there to help them warm up and offer moral support with her festive turkey costume. Also appearing were seniors Natalie Syles (Chestatee Volleyball & Soccer) and Matthew Brooksher (Chestatee Drama & Chorus) who, unknown to them, we added to the Chestatee team score too.
Even though there are no teams competing in this event, we scored our crew just for fun based on OVERALL FINISH, GENDER CLASS, and AGE GROUPS. In a Community 5K, the AGE CLASS is the one that matters and Jonathan Smith finished in 3rd place with Jefferson close behind in 5th. Kylor Stewart was our top girl in 4th with Natalie Sykes placing 7th.
