Girls 4x800 Relay Nears CHS Record

 

TOCCOA, GA - The girls 4x800m relay "A" team got to run their first meet together at Stephens County this past weekend and lit a fire by running the 3rd fastest 800 relay time in Chestatee history with a 10:49.13 which was just under 10 seconds off the school record of 10:39.21 that was set back in 2014.  The team, consisting of freshman Bella McClenathen in lead-off, junior Crystal Vaca, senior Kayleigh McBride, and anchored by freshman Emma Dobson represent the top runners in our cross country program.

The War Eagles struggled in the 800m with freshman Miguel Valdez (2:51.61) finishing as the top boy in 10th and followed by freshman Brayden Keller (2:58.78) in 12th overall.  In the girls race, freshmen Alexa Rodriguez (3:04.89) led the way with a PR and a 9th place finish followed by Allison Ramos (3:11.04) in 11th place.

In the 1600m, all 3 runners in both the boys and girls lineup PRed with senior Kayleigh McBride (5:51.25) finishing 3rd overall in the girls 1600m.

In the 3200m, freshman Emma Dobson (12:04.01) came out as the winner with senior Kayleigh McBride (12:47.55) finishing behind her in 2nd place with a new PR.  Junior Vanessa Valdez finished in 6th overall.  For the boys, freshmen Andrew Laborde (13:05.23) finished 8th with a PR and Miguel Valdez (10:39.30) finished in 10th overall.

Next up will be the Battle of the Blue Ridge Meet at Habersham Central on March 13.
