Girls closing in on school 4x800 record, Dobson wins 800, 1600, 3200 at Lambert
SUWANEE, GA - After a quick turnaround from the last meet, the Lady War Eagles distance team went out with a bang! After finishing a few weeks ago with the 3rd fastest time ever in the 4x800m relay, the Lady War Eagles surged and improved by almost 9 seconds to close within about a second of the school record set in 2014. With plenty of meets left in the season, the team, comprised of freshmen Emma Dobson, Bella McClenathen, junior Crystal Vaca, and senior Kayleigh McBride, should see more opportunities to break the record.
Individually, Emma Dobson swept the distance events winning the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m distances. Senior Kayleigh McBride finished in second place in the 1600m and 3200m distances. Junior Vanessa Valdez finished 4th in the 3200m and had a PR in the 1600m. Freshmen Allison Ramos and Ximena Garcia finished the 800m with PRs. Freshman Isabella McClenathen finished 5th in the 1600m with a PR as well. Junior Crystal Vaca sprinted to a top-10 finish and a PR in the 400m dash.
Overall, the girls track team finished in 3rd place with 106 points, just one point out of 2nd place. The distance squad accounted for 61 of the total team points.
Next the War Eagles will prepare next week to compete at home in the Hall County Championships in The Nest on March 28th.
